Stabbing, shoplifting among recent arrests

Yorktown Police reported multiple arrests and criminal summonses between June 17 and June 29, including a felony assault stemming from a stabbing, the alleged theft of more than $3,000 in merchandise from Jefferson Valley Mall, drug and traffic-related arrests, and several harassment and order-of-protection cases.

Shoplifting

Two Bronx men, ages 25 and 33, were arrested June 25 and charged with third-degree grand larceny, a Class D felony, according to Yorktown Police. The 33-year-old man was also charged with possession of burglar's tools, a Class A misdemeanor. Police said a detective on patrol at Jefferson Valley Mall observed the men leaving the mall with a duffel bag containing what appeared to be clothing before conducting a traffic stop on their vehicle. Investigators allege the men stole more than $3,000 worth of Nike merchandise from Dick's Sporting Goods. One defendant was turned over to the Bedford Police Department on an active warrant, while the other was remanded to the Westchester County Jail. Both are due to appear in Yorktown Justice Court at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 30.

Stabbing

A 75-year-old Yorktown Heights woman was arrested June 22 and charged with first-degree assault, a Class B felony, according to Yorktown Police. Police said officers responded to a reported stabbing and found a victim with multiple apparent stab wounds. Investigators allege the woman stabbed the victim in the upper back with a knife. The victim was transported to Westchester Medical Center for treatment. Police did not immediately release details about what led to the stabbing, and the victim's condition was not immediately known.

The woman was arraigned in Yorktown Justice Court, where bail was set at $100,000 cash, $250,000 bond or $500,000 partially secured bond. She was unable to post bail and was remanded to the Westchester County Jail. She is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 9.

Controlled Substance

A 29-year-old Bronx man was arrested June 19 and charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest, both class A misdemeanors, according to Yorktown Police. Police said officers responded to 24 Hour Fitness at 600 Lee Blvd. on a report of a man behaving erratically and allegedly found him in possession of a suspected controlled substance. When officers attempted to arrest him, police said he resisted by pulling his arms away and scratching officers' wrists and forearms. He was issued an appearance ticket and released to the care of hospital personnel. He is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 9.

Criminal Contempt

A 74-year-old Cortlandt Manor man was arrested June 17 and charged with first-degree criminal contempt, a Class E felony, according to Yorktown Police. Police said the charge stems from an alleged June 12 violation of a Yorktown Justice Court order of protection after the man entered the protected person's residence. He voluntarily surrendered to police, was arraigned in Yorktown Justice Court and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to return to court at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 14.

Criminal Impersonation

A 55-year-old Stamford, Connecticut, man was arrested June 18 and charged with second-degree criminal impersonation, fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, both class A misdemeanors and second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor, according to Yorktown Police. Police said the charges stem from a Jan. 8 traffic stop on Route 6, during which the man allegedly identified himself using a stolen driver's license belonging to another person. Police later determined his identity and alleged his driver's license had been revoked. Officers located the man during a June 18 traffic stop on Route 6 and took him into custody. He was arraigned in Yorktown Justice Court and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in court at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 14.

Suspended License

A 30-year-old Peekskill man was arrested June 25 and charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle after Yorktown Police said he was stopped on East Main Street for allegedly disobeying a traffic control device. Police said a records check determined the man's New York driver's license was suspended. He was also issued traffic tickets for operating without a license and disobeying a traffic control device. He was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 14.

Hit-and-run

A 39-year-old Hampton Bays woman was arrested June 29 and charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, according to Yorktown Police. She was also issued traffic tickets for operating without a license and leaving the scene of a property-damage crash. Police said the charges stem from a June 28 hit-and-run crash on Hitching Post Lane. An investigation identified the woman as the alleged driver, and a records check found her New York driving privileges were allegedly suspended. She later surrendered at Yorktown Police Headquarters, was issued uniform traffic tickets and released on her own recognizance. She is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 16.

Harassment

A 27-year-old Yorktown man was served with a criminal summons June 25 on an underlying charge of second-degree harassment, a violation, according to Yorktown Police. Police said the charge stems from a June 7 domestic dispute at a Yorktown residence during which the man allegedly caused physical harm to the victim. He was served with the summons at Yorktown Police Headquarters and is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 21.

Child Harassment

A 56-year-old Yorktown woman was served with a criminal summons June 25 on an underlying charge of second-degree harassment, a violation, according to Yorktown Police. Police said the charge stems from a June 13 incident outside a residence on Waterfront View, where the woman allegedly verbally harassed a 3-year-old child. She was served with the summons at her residence and is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 21.
