Yorktown Heights woman arrested on felony DWI with children in car

Authorities say the 40-year-old drove intoxicated with two children in the vehicle

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. —A Yorktown Heights woman was arrested Saturday after allegedly driving intoxicated with two children in the car.

The 40-year-old faces charges including aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child in the vehicle, a class E felony; driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor; endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor; and multiple traffic infractions. Names are being withheld.

On Saturday, Nov. 29, around 2:48 p.m., officers responded to Route 6 near Sunnyside Street following a reported motor vehicle accident with possible injuries. The children, both under 15, were unharmed and placed in the care of a relative, according to police.

The woman was arraigned and the judge issued a temporary order of protection on behalf of the victims. She was released on her own recognizance and is due back in the Yorktown Justice Court on Thursday, Dec. 4 at 6 p.m.
