A Yorktown woman is facing a felony assault charge after police said she stabbed the victim in the back during an argument. Officers responded to a home in town around 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 25, following a reported domestic dispute, where they found the victim — suffering from what appeared to be a stab wound.
Police said the stabbing, carried out with a knife, occurred during a verbal altercation. The woman’s identity is being withheld to protect the victim’s privacy.
The victim was transported to Westchester Medical Center for treatment. Their current condition is not known.
The suspect was taken into custody at the scene and processed at Yorktown Police Headquarters before being arraigned in Yorktown Justice Court. A temporary order of protection was issued on behalf of the victim. The court clerk told Yorktown News that she posted bail.
She appeared in court on Thursday and is scheduled to return on May 14.
