Victim identified in fatal bike accident

Investigation is ongoing

YORKTOWN, N.Y. —The Yorktown Police Department released new details about a fatal accident involving a bicyclist.

Authorities responded early Thursday morning (Aug. 14) to a crash on Route 134 involving 44-year-old Jeremy Solomon of Irvington, who police said was struck by a car while riding his bicycle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Emergency responders from the Yorktown Police Department, New Castle Police, Empress EMS, and the Millwood Fire Department responded to the scene.

The driver of the vehicle was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital for precautionary medical evaluation and was later released.

“A preliminary investigation, including a video review of the accident, showed that the motor vehicle operator had the right of way,” police said in a Friday press release.

The accident remains under investigation by Yorktown police and the Westchester County Department of Public Safety.
