Four face juvenile delinquency charges

SHRUB OAK, N.Y.—Four teens were charged in connection with an assault following a reported “large fight” outside the Acme in the Shrub Oak Shopping Center last month, the Yorktown Police Department said.

Officers responded to 1366 East Main St. on Sept. 26 just before 8 p.m. for a fight in progress. After dispersing the crowd, an investigation identified four male teens — ages 14 and 17 of Yorktown and ages 15 and 16 of Cortlandt Manor — who allegedly struck a victim in the face with closed fists, causing physical injury. It is unclear what those injuries were or the victim’s current condition.

Police withheld the names of the defendants due to their juvenile status.

All four were charged with juvenile delinquency, with the underlying offense equivalent to third-degree assault, a Class A misdemeanor if committed by an adult.

The teens appeared at police headquarters with guardians on Oct. 22, where they were arrested and processed. They were issued juvenile appearance tickets and released to responsible adults.

They are scheduled to appear in Westchester County Family Court on Nov. 6 at 10:30 a.m.
