YORKTOWN, N.Y. — A Somers man is facing several serious charges following an incident at an assisted living facility in Yorktown earlier this month.
According to the Yorktown Police Department, Troy Nelson, 30, of Granite Springs, was arrested in connection with the incident, which police say occurred on Feb. 7 at approximately 2:27 p.m. Officers responded to a report of a suspicious person at the The Country House in Westchester assisted living facility on Baldwin Road, and upon arrival, located a suspect later identified as Nelson.
Following an investigation, police allege that Nelson unlawfully entered a residence within the facility and stole items from a victim. Authorities further allege that he was found in possession of the stolen property at the time of the investigation.
Nelson has been charged with Burglary in the Second Degree, a Class C felony, as well as Petit Larceny and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, both Class A misdemeanors.
After processing, Nelson was arraigned before Judge Cohen-Pierson in Yorktown Justice Court. Bail was set at $7,500 cash, $25,000 bond, or $50,000 partially secured bond. Police said he was unable to post bail and was remanded to the Westchester County Jail, where he was turned over to the Westchester County Department of Corrections.
Nelson is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on Feb. 26.
