The Yorktown Police Department will join law enforcement agencies across the country in celebrating National Night Out.
The annual event, set for Tuesday, Aug. 5, is the department’s largest community outreach initiative, aimed at strengthening relationships between residents and local law enforcement.
“This is our way to celebrate the overwhelming support that we receive from our residents and business community,” Chief of Police Robert Noble said. “I have always felt that if you have the opportunity to meet members of the YPD team, that you will come to realize that they are outstanding people, who share the same goals that many in our community do.”
Noble said the event, held at Jack DeVito Veterans’ Memorial Field and Track, will feature a DJ and have everything from bouncy houses and hay rides from the Yorktown Grange to the department’s K9 unit, motorcycle, and police vehicles on site.
“We hope to greet old friends,” he said, and added that the department also hopes “to have the opportunity to make new friends as well.”
