Michael K. Ryan, known affectionately to family and friends as Mike, passed away on Oct. 14, 2026, in Mt. Kisco, New York, the town where he was born on Oct. 2, 1963. He was a beloved son, husband, father, brother, and friend whose warmth, humor, and kindness touched the lives of many. He will be remembered for the gentle way he moved through the world, for his generous spirit, and for the laughter he brought to those fortunate enough to know him.
Mike grew up in Yorktown Heights and carried with him throughout his life a deep connection to the community and the people around him. He attended the University of Buffalo, where he continued to build the foundation for a life marked by hard work, dedication, and a genuine appreciation for others. Those who knew him best understood that he possessed a natural gift for making people feel welcome, whether in his home, at work, or among friends gathered around a table.
A talented chef, Mike spent many years working at numerous restaurants and with various groups, where he shared not only his skill but also his passion for creating memorable meals. His work reflected his care, creativity, and pride in doing things well. He approached his profession with the same steady kindness that defined the rest of his life, and he earned the respect of colleagues and the admiration of those who had the pleasure of enjoying his cooking. For Mike, food was more than a career. It was an expression of love, and he found great joy in preparing meals for his family and bringing people together.
Above all else, Mike cherished his family. He is survived by his father Richard, wife, Elizabeth; his daughters, Emma and her husband Jose, and Maggie and her husband Kyle; his brother, Thomas and his wife Heather; and his sister, Patricia; his grandsons, Jose Luis and Alejandro; and his numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Eileen and brother Richard. His family was the center of his world, and he found his greatest happiness in spending time with them, sharing meals, stories, and everyday moments that became treasured memories. He was a devoted husband and father whose love was steady, sincere, and deeply felt.
Mike will be remembered as a man who was funny, generous, and gentle. His sense of humor could brighten even the most ordinary day, and his kindness left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He had a way of making others feel at ease, and his presence brought comfort and joy to those around him. His life was one of quiet strength, devotion, and love, and the example he set will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
Though his passing leaves a profound sadness, the memory of Mike Ryan will remain a source of comfort and gratitude. His legacy lives on in the meals he prepared, the laughter he inspired, and the love he gave so freely. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.
