Yorktown police made four arrests in recent cases involving allegations ranging from violating an order of protection to leaving the scene of a crash and possessing a stolen vehicle.
A 74-year-old Mahopac man is accused of violating an order of protection after allegedly making a threatening statement to a person at a Yorktown residence.
Yorktown police said Michael W. Rispoli was charged Aug. 1 with second-degree harassment, a violation and second-degree criminal contempt, a Class A misdemeanor. The alleged incident was reported earlier that day.
Police said Rispoli later turned himself in at Yorktown Police Headquarters. He was arraigned in Yorktown Justice Court and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to return to court Aug. 18.
A 23-year-old Yorktown man was charged after police said he struck mailboxes at two homes and left the scene.
Police said Edgar Santos-Lopez was driving a black Mercedes-Benz when it allegedly hit the mailboxes on Aug. 3. Officers located the vehicle the following day on Hickory Street, where it had damage consistent with the reported incident, police said.
Santos-Lopez was charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor; operating without a license, leaving the scene of an accident involving property damage and moving from a lane unsafely. He was issued traffic tickets and is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on Aug. 18.
A 42-year-old Verplank man was charged after Yorktown police said they stopped him for allegedly speeding on Route 6.
Police said a check of Christopher Sheppard’s license found that it had been revoked in New York. He was charged with second-degree, a misdemeanor; aggravated unlicensed operation, operating without a license and speeding.
Sheppard was issued traffic tickets and is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on Aug. 27.
A 32-year-old Jamaica, Queens, man was charged after Yorktown police said they stopped a vehicle reported stolen out of New York City on the Taconic State Parkway.
Police said they were alerted to the vehicle in the area on Aug. 11 and located it after canvassing the parkway. The driver, William Saquinga-Lema, was also allegedly driving with a suspended license.
Saquinga-Lema was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, operating without a license and having inadequate or no stop lamps. He was released to the New York City Police Department's warrant squad in connection with an outstanding matter and is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on Aug. 27.
