A former Yorktown teaching assistant is heading to federal prison for possessing child pornography. As reported by lohud.com, Giuseppi Micciari, 29, pleaded guilty in March 2025 to federal charges and was sentenced in White Plains federal court on Sept. 16 by U.S. District Judge Philip Halpern.
Micciari expressed remorse at the sentencing and said it was “crippling” to know he had caused his victims, their families, and his own family so much pain.
As previously reported by Yorktown News, Micciari was indicted in 2023 on charges of receipt and distribution of child pornography and possession of child pornography. Prosecutors said he used Telegram to trade images and PayPal to buy and sell them under the alias Giovanni Latesta. Investigators tied the account to his phone and credit card, tracing the activity to a Yorktown home. His iPhone and laptop were seized at JFK Airport on Aug. 9, 2023, when he returned from Italy. A forensic search uncovered material from 2022 and 2023, including files stored on overseas servers.
“Giuseppi Micciari was entrusted with our most vulnerable segment of society – our children,” HSI Special Agent in Charge Ivan J. Arvelo said when the indictment was unsealed. “His alleged depraved acts betrayed that trust.”
A 2014 Yorktown High School graduate, Micciari worked as a teaching assistant at Brookside Elementary and Yorktown High School from 2019 to 2023. He was briefly appointed assistant JV football coach before resigning prior to the season.
