The weekend storm made for a messy few days on the roads, with several crashes reported around the area.
On Sunday, a dozen Yorktown Heights volunteer firefighters responded to a crash on Route 129 between Underhill Avenue and the Taconic State Parkway overpass, where they found a vehicle down a steep embankment with one person trapped inside.
Firefighters lowered members down the embankment to reach the occupant while other crews secured the vehicle with a grip hoist and removed the driver’s door.
Crews then carried out a low-angle extrication, bringing the occupant safely back up the embankment to EMS personnel for treatment. The scene was later turned over to the Yorktown Police Department.
