YORKTOWN, N.Y.—A $13,000 ring reported stolen from a Yorktown home was recovered by police, who arrested the cleaner they said took it.
The Yorktown Police Department arrested Rosa Celmira Tene Guaillas, 26, of Spring Valley on May 31 and charged her with third-degree grand larceny, a class D felony.
Officers responded to the home Saturday afternoon after a report of a possible theft.
Following an investigation, police said Tene Guaillas, who had been working in the home as a cleaner, was found in possession of the jewelry without the owner’s knowledge or permission.
She was arrested, processed at the Yorktown Police Department, and later released on her own recognizance.
Tene Guaillas is due to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on Thursday at 6 p.m.
