Wayne Edward Sanchez was born Oct. 17, 1961, in Wilmington, Delaware.
Wayne was a confident and hard-working man who started working as a clerk at Waldbaum's in 1978, eventually becoming a store manager in various stores for A&P and Acme.
After 44 years, he finished his career as a manager. He was respected greatly by many of his peers. Wayne enjoyed attending baseball games with his kids and was an avid Yankee fan. Over a 19-year span, he and his son, Christopher, accomplished seeing every MLB stadium in the country!
Wayne was a lover of vacationing in Westerly, Rhode Island, with his daughter, Lillie and partner, Eileen. They also enjoyed going to various country concerts over the years. He and his family shared a passion for food. From cooking his classics to trying new and interesting restaurants. Besides all of these nothing was more important to him than family.
Wayne passed away Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024, at Phelps Memorial Hospital in Sleepy Hollow, N.Y. He is survived by his partner of 17 years, Eileen Colon; his two children Christopher (and his fiancé Jamie), and Lillie Sanchez; his two granddaughters Harper Lynn and Emma Lynn Sanchez; and his parents Nazareth and William Sanchez. He is predeceased by his brother, William “Bill” Sanchez. He was also loved by Eileen’s sister, Marissa and children Yahaira, Mailene, and AJ.
A wake was held on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at Yorktown Funeral Home in Shurb Oak.
