Putnam Youth Bureau seeks nominees for youth awards

The Putnam County Youth Bureau is seeking nominations for young volunteers and adult mentors to be honored at the 42nd annual Youth Awards Dinner next spring.

The Youth Bureau, in partnership with the Putnam County Youth Board, is accepting nominations for high school students as well as an adult candidate for the James F. Reitz Award. Nominations are due Friday, Nov. 13.

Volunteer work benefiting Putnam County and surrounding communities will be considered.

Each year, the awards recognize high school students for their contributions as volunteers and role models in the community. The James F. Reitz Award is presented to an adult volunteer who has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to working with and inspiring young people.

“We are incredibly proud of the young people and adults who go above and beyond to make a difference in our communities,” Youth Bureau Director Janeen Cunningham said. “Each volunteer brings unique talents and a sense of hope and optimism to those around them.”

Cunningham said the annual dinner provides an opportunity to recognize the volunteers for their service and encouraged residents to nominate deserving individuals.

County Executive Kevin Byrne also encouraged community members to submit nominations.

“Our community is made stronger by individuals who dedicate their time to serving others, and the annual Youth Awards Dinner gives us the chance to recognize their meaningful contributions,” Byrne said. “These young leaders and mentors are an inspiration.”

The 42nd annual Youth Awards Dinner will be held Thursday, April 8, 2027, at the Putnam County Golf Course.

Nominations can be submitted through the Youth Awards section of the Putnam County Youth Bureau’s website at putnamcountyny.gov/youth-bureau#awards.
