Born in Cave, Italy to Umberto & Angela, Vinny was one of six siblings: two older brothers, Enrico and Agostino; a younger brother, Bruno; and twin sisters, Antoinette and Anna.
He was known for his beautiful and generous soul, the "charmer of the family," with a caring heart brimming with love for life.
He proudly served in the Italian Army, and in 1958 traveled the eight-day voyage to America on the Christopher Columbus (sister ship to the Andrea Doria, which his Mom and sisters had sailed on months before) to become a U.S. Citizen.
Vinny channeled his discipline, attention to detail, warm personality, and sense of humor into a successful career as a tailor and businessman where he and his skills were greatly admired.
Starting as an employee in a small shop in Peekskill, he bravely put the small amount of money he earned toward his own space—he met Linda, married, and the rest is history!
He retired from his well-known business, Vinny's Men's Wear, in Yorktown Heights, approximately 30 years ago. Yorktown has been home since 1965 where Vinny was active in the community and loved by all who met him. Most importantly, it is where he raised his five children: Chris, Karalyn, David, MariAnn, and Susan and enjoyed his other passions: cooking, golfing, gardening, fishing, and of course spending every moment possible with his family celebrating life's moments.
Family brought him immense joy and allowed him to share his love and zest for life with those around him.
With a large family including 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and many friends, he was active, social, full of life, love, humor, and generosity until his last breath.
His legacy of love of life will be remembered by all who knew him.
While no specific request for charitable contributions has been made, those wishing to honor Vinny's memory are encouraged to celebrate his life by continuing to spread kindness, love, and generosity in their own lives. Saluti!
