James Patrick "Pat" Francois was born in Stockton, California in 1933, and died peacefully in his home in Yorktown Heights, N.Y., on Jan. 8, 2025. His survivors are his daughters Janet Francois Matlock, Betsy DeAngelis and her husband Mario, two grandsons, many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends that he considered family. Pat was predeceased by his love of his life, his wife Frances, and their daughters Marian Patricia and Joan Lillian.
Pat was a loving husband, a great dad (the original "girl dad"), a DeeJay, Social Worker and friend. He enjoyed music, traveling, a nice Scotch and telling stories of all his escapades.
James P. Francois proudly served in the United States Navy from January 22, 1951, until he was Honorably discharged on May 1, 1959.
He attended the University of the Pacific in Stockton California, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Music. He was a DeeJay and program director at several local radio stations. Afterward, he had a change in his career goals and became a Social Worker. In 1972, he received a Fellowship Scholarship to New York University to get his Master's degree in Social Work and worked for NYS in that field until he retired. Pat was a member of the Yorktown Heights Conservation board, the Louis A. Brennen chapter of the New York State Archaeological Association, and most recently, a member of RPEA (Retired Public Employees Association). Pat and Frances were members of the Saint Patrick's adult choir in Yorktown Heights for 25 years. Also, he was a generous supporter of humanitarian causes such as Feeding Westchester and Doctors Without Borders.
He will be missed and fondly remembered for his kindness, understanding and compassion for others. Gifts in honor of his memory can be made to humanitarian causes of personal choice.
