The Lakeland Central School District will partner with Northwell Health in a move that officials say will support and expand student mental health services. In an Aug. 18  letter to parents and caregivers announcing the partnership, Superintendent of Schools Karen Gagliardi said the launch “is part of our ongoing commitment to supporting the whole child and meeting the mental health needs of our students and families.” more

Lakeland Schools Superintendent Karen Gagliardi is stepping down. The Board of Education passed a resolution during a special meeting on Monday, Aug. 11 accepting her “resignation for the purpose of retirement.” The move was not expected, and no reason for her departure was provided. The school board appointed Joseph Mosey as interim superintendent. Mosey has served as the district’s assistant superintendent of human for the past three years.   more
