It is with profound sadness and a deep sense of loss that we announce the passing of Ralph Anthony Maietta, affectionately known as Ralphie, who left us peacefully on April 2, 2025, in Garrison, N.Y. Born on Nov. 21, 1946, in the Bronx, Ralph's journey through life was marked by his intelligence, adventurous spirit, and passionate heart.
He graduated from Lakeland High School in 1963 and pursued his trade as an electrician through a trade school in Peekskill. His dedication to his craft led him to a long and respected career with IBEW Local Three NYC, where he was a proud member for 45 years. Ralph's work took him across the United States, where he contributed to numerous construction projects with his skilled hands and keen mind.
At home, Ralph was a pillar of love and strength for his family. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Brenda Maietta, and a loving father to his children, Ralph Maietta Jr and his wife Emily, Asia Carey and her partner Gaetano Ventrone, and John Maietta. His legacy continued through his grandchildren, Ralphael, Joseph, Emma, Arianna Carey, Joshua Carey, Jacqueline, Gabriel, Roman, Maria, Dominic, Ralphael Jr, Axel, Gino, Atlas, and was preceded in death by his grandsons, Miles and Kingston Maietta. Ralph's zest for life was evident in his many interests. As a family-oriented man, he cherished moments with his children and grandchildren above all else. An avid whitetail deer hunter, Ralph found solace and excitement in the great outdoors. His pursuit of challenges led him to become a golfer extremist and a mountain climber, particularly in Washington State. His love for the New York Yankees was unparalleled, earning him the title of a true Yankee fanatic.
Ralph's laughter was infectious, and his ability to find joy in nature and people around him was a gift to all who knew him. The words intelligent, adventurous, and passionate merely scratch the surface of who Ralph was. He lived a life that exemplified the essence of these qualities, touching the lives of many with his vibrant personality and unwavering integrity. To quote the great Ralph Waldo Emerson, "To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment." Ralph embodied this sentiment, always true to himself and inspiring others to do the same.
As we bid farewell to a man of such remarkable character, we hold on to the memories and lessons he imparted. Ralph's story is one of love, perseverance, and the pursuit of happiness. His legacy will continue to light the way for his family and friends, reminding us to embrace life with the same fervor and enthusiasm he did every day. Ralph Anthony Maietta's presence will be profoundly missed, yet his spirit will forever remain a guiding force in the lives of those he touched. As we reflect on his journey, we are reminded to cherish each moment, laugh often, and love deeply, just as Ralph did. We take comfort in knowing that Ralph's life was lived to the fullest, surrounded by those he loved, engaged in the work he was passionate about, and always in pursuit of his next adventure. He has left an indelible mark on this world, and for that, we are eternally grateful.
Ralph's story is not one of an ending, but a beautiful testament to a life well-lived.
