Mirtha Iglesias was born on Aug.17, 1931 in Havana, Cuba. She passed away peacefully from heart failure on March 30, 2025, at her home in Mohegan Lake.
She belonged to a distinguished family formed by Pedro and Daisy Rodriguez and grew up with her brother, Pedro Rodriguez.
She pursued her education in pharmacy at the University of Havana, Cuba. After achieving her education, she formed her own family with her illustrious husband Jose Iglesias. They migrated to the United States with their two children, Jose Miguel and Teresa Iglesias.
Arriving in the United States, she embarked on a distinguished career with Chase Manhattan Bank, but her most amazing job was creating a beautiful family, who accompanied her until her last breath. Mirtha's legacy lives on through her loving family: her children, Jose Miguel and Teresa Iglesias {now deceased); her daughter-in-law Natalia Iglesias and, Teresa's partner, Anaida Garcia; her grandchildren Miguel (Jill), Carlos (Lauren), Alex (Stephanie), Nicholas and Danielle; and her seven great-grandchildren Miguel, Tristan, Carter, Graciella, Amelia Violet and Joell.
Mirtha's warmth, wisdom and nurturing spirit were the glue that held her family together. She was passionate about collecting jewelry, and shopping was more than a pastime for her. It was an adventure that she relished. She also found tranquility and challenge in the quiet focus required for her beloved crossword puzzles.
Mirtha truly lived each day with an infectious enthusiasm and an insatiable desire to learn and grow, resilience and grace. Her presence was a gift to those around her. Her memory will be honored and celebrated for generations to come. Though she had left this earthly realm, the love she shared and the lessons she imparted will remain as a guiding light to all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Mirtha's spirit, like the brightest star, will continue to shine in the lives of her family and friends.
