Mary was the fourth of five children of Francis Schuchman and Winifred Lundy Schuchman. She is predeceased by her siblings, Peter, Katherine, Elizabeth and Winifred. A near-lifelong resident of North Salem, she graduated from St. Mary’s, and attended Manhattanville College.
She is survived by her five sons, Daniel (Jamie), Patrick, Joel (Laura), Jonathan (Stephanie), and Christoper (Carol). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Conor, Morgan, Emma, Sarah, Braden, Colin, Finn and Rory.
A lover of animals, she served as a beacon for the many wild creatures of her life: cats, dogs, deer, raccoons, possums, skunks, and her grandchildren. All were welcomed into her life as long as they had an ear for loud music, political discourse, and found joy in the discussion of a good book.
Ideas, enlightenment and acceptance were common reading themes. But family was the theme that built the framework of her life story.
Mary was a kind, thoughtful, loving soul, whose greatest joy was her children and grandchildren, perpetually listening, confirming, playing and leading through non-judgmental affirmations. They have all lost their biggest fan and supporter.
