Julianna Joyce Sannino, affectionately known as JJ, passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2025.
Born in Manhattan on August 12th, 2004, JJ lived a life filled with love, and she accomplished more in 20 years than most do in an entire lifetime. JJ's passion for teaching, love of the arts, and her quest to find new adventures always kept her busy. She was driven to find success and blossomed into somebody that she was proud to be. The proof of her talent, intelligence, strength and compassion is far reaching.
JJ was studying to obtain her masters degree in elementary education at Sacred Heart University and was recognized as a dean's list student. She found so much joy in teaching.
Since she was young, JJ would return home with vibrant stories of her day, whether she was helping at her local churches, coaching the Seven Bridges swim team, or giving back to her community through mentoring and tutoring.
Anyone who had the privilege to watch her perform knows of JJ's devotion to dance. Her innate talent and creativity knew no bounds, steering her toward the art of choreography. JJ gained national recognition as an independent dancer and choreographer at the young age of sixteen. Once in college, JJ had the chance to blend her love for dance and teaching in Sacred Heart University Dance Company's CCFP (Company Choreography Fellowship Program).
JJ was at her happiest when she was on the move. As a child, she never let anything hold her back. She loved little league baseball and wasn't afraid to be the only girl at wrestling camp. She enjoyed skateboarding down hills, riding the tallest roller coasters, and skiing down icy black diamond slopes.
She was a tough kid, but always had a kind heart. JJ loved reading and writing poems and sitting by the riverbank with her pets. She was comforting, compassionate, and always gave the best advice. JJ made new friends everywhere she went; to know her was to love her. She was a beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, and friend. There was nothing quite like her forever friendships and her deep love for her family.
JJ leaves to mourn her passing: her mother, Desiree, her father, Dominick, her siblings, Sammy and Nick, her grandmother, her aunts and uncles, her cousins, and her many dear friends.
