Raymond William Nickerson, age 73, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2024, at Northern Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco, NY. He was surrounded by loving family during his time in palliative care; he was never alone.

Raymond was predeceased by his mother, Harriet Tracey Lowery. He was a loving father to his son, Raymond. He was the oldest of nine, and leaves behind sisters Cynthia, Carol, Frances, Joann, Sandra, Nancy and Patricia, brother Robert and spouses. He had many nephews, nieces, and great nephews and nieces. He was also survived by his former wife, Terri.

Ray grew up in Yonkers, NY, attended college in Nebraska, spent time in Connecticut, then moved to Hawthorne, NY. Ray was employed by the County of Westchester in the Waste Treatment Plant for 34 years, retiring 11 years ago. He enjoyed caddying at the Fairview Country Club for 57 years, retiring 2 months ago. He was diagnosed with cancer shortly afterwards.

Raymond shared his love of music with his son, and they went to many shows together over the years. Back in the day, Ray went to concerts in Gaelic Park, and always talked about seeing Mountain, Humble Pie and Yes there for $5. He attended the original Woodstock, and had an audience when pointing out where he sat at The Who concert at Bethel Woods 50 years later. He saw many of the greats; his last show was Steve Winwood in August.

Ray was an avid sports fan, cheering at full volume for the NY Yankees, Baltimore / Indianapolis Colts (Colts Win! Colts Win!), and Boston Celtics. He enjoyed participating in weekly football and yearly March Madness pools. He attended many sporting events, including the 1984 Olympics.

Raymond was a Fantastic Four aficionado, collecting their comics and memorabilia. He even spent time making figures himself. His enjoyment of comic books began as a child reading and walking home from school, and continued through his adult life.

Ray made life-long friends in all areas of life. He was blessed with a huge show of support during his illness. He was deeply loved, and will be remembered by all whose lives he touched.
