Dear Editor,
Yorktown needs dedicated people that are always present, not just when there's something in it for them. Take, for example, Supervisor candidate Jann Mirchandani, who lost several previous elections and has disappeared after each loss only to re-emerge when a new election was being held, accomplishing nothing in the interim for the people of Yorktown.
Town Board candidate Ilan Gilbert is no different. Where has he been since losing four years ago for Town Board. What has he done for the people of Yorktown since losing to Matt Slater for the Supervisor seat over six years ago. The answer is simple: nothing.
As for Town Board Candidate Michael Hickens, I am not sure who he is, but I do know that he has done nothing for our community.
In stark contrast, Supervisor Ed Lachterman has been an active part of the community long before and during his tenure. He is a member of the Lions, was a board member of the Yorktown Chamber and a staunch advocate for our youth.
Deputy Supervisor Sergio Esposito is an outstanding member of our community. Always advocating for our youth, our seniors, our businesses and just about everyone who asks for his help. Sometimes I wonder if there are more than one of him because he is everywhere and deeply cares for everything Yorktown. He has always been an active member of the community, not just when there's a selfish opportunity like his opponents.
Finally, Councilwoman Luciana Haughwout never disappoints as the President of the Brookside PTA, the VP of the Crompond PTA and the Associate Director WEPRN, which is the Westchester/Putnam PTA hosting 65 schools.
Yorktown doesn't need opportunists. Yorktown needs dedicated, caring and dynamic people who are always present. That's why I'm voting for Ed Lachterman, Sergio Esposito and Luciana Haughwout.
