The Yorktown Town Board proclaimed Aug. 4 as United States Coast Guard Day, honoring the branch’s more than two centuries of service to the nation. The proclamation recognized the Coast Guard’s contributions to maritime safety, homeland security, environmental protection, search and rescue operations, disaster response and law enforcement, while expressing gratitude for the dedication and sacrifice of its members
