Yorktown residents Alex Mandara and Frank Garcia were among several local veterans advocates honored by Rep. Mike Lawler at an event at Carmel Town Hall earlier this month for their leadership, service and dedication to the veteran community.
Luke Rathschmidt, a Mahopac resident who died in 2024 at age 38, was also honored posthumously. The son of United for the Troops co-founder Jim Rathschmidt, Luke played an instrumental role in the early work that eventually became United for the Troops.
