Trevor J. Spano

Posted

With broken hearts, we share the passing of our beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend, Trevor Spano, who left us far too soon on May 26, 2025, at the age of 12, due to complications from Mitochondrial Deletion Syndrome.

Trevor was a bright, kind, and joy-filled soul whose presence lit up every room he entered. Born on September 21, 2012, he lived a life full of creativity, laughter, and deep love—far more than his short years should have allowed.

He had a passion for art, music, and sports, especially football, lacrosse, and basketball. Whether he was drawing, dancing, pulling off a well-timed prank, or cheering for his favorite team, THE Ohio State Buckeyes and the Somers Tuskers. Trevor brought joy to those around him.

He loved his family fiercely and found joy in the everyday moments—playing with his brother Greyson, spending time with his beloved dog Brutus, and celebrating holidays (which he adored most of all). His appreciation for his teachers, therapists, coaches, and friends spoke volumes about his heart and the deep connections he formed with so many.

Trevor is survived by his loving parents, Todd and Emma Spano; his cherished brother, Greyson Spano; his devoted grandparents, James and Susan Spano and John and Joan Repp; his aunts and uncles, Allison and John Oppedisano, Meggie Repp, Will and Kristin Buley; and his cousins, Sofia and Ava, Cooper and Ellie. Each of them carries forward his memory with love, pride, and an aching absence that words cannot express.

Trevor’s life was a testament to resilience, love, and the power of joy in the face of challenge. He will be remembered for his laughter, his hugs, his dancing, and the unforgettable light he brought into our lives.

A memorial service in celebration of Trevor’s life will be held on Wednesday, June 4, at Yorktown Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m.

In honor of Trevor and in lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to The Champ Foundation to support continued research and care for children living with mitochondrial disease. The Champ Foundation

We cannot express the outpouring of love and support we have received for Trevor. We are so proud that he touched so many lives. The support from the Somers community, Somers athletics, Somers school district, and Able Athletics, along with our family and friends, has been a humbling experience for us and will never be forgotten.

Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever Trevor.
