A stretch of Route 6N that serves as a popular route between Mahopac Falls and Jefferson Valley is expected to be closed to traffic for approximately two months beginning on Monday (March 23).
As previously reported, the New York State Department of Transportation will replace an aging culvert near Pine Tree Lane just north of the Yorktown town line. Plans also call for roadway reconstruction, drainage upgrades and traffic control measures that will require a temporary closure at the work site.
The work site is located about two-tenths of a mile from the Westchester-Putnam line, between 41 and 44 Route 6N (between Pine Tree Lane and Trailer Court), near a mobile home park along the roadway.
That stretch of Route 6N will be closed to traffic while the culvert is replaced. A detour will direct motorists to Route 6 and Baldwin Place Road.
Drivers are advised to plan ahead and allow for additional travel time during the closure.
A state Department of Transportation official told Mahopac News the work is expected to be completed by May 22.
