Dear Editor,
As a Putnam Valley resident and father, I deeply care about the local issues that directly affect our families, like property taxes, good schools, safe roads, and protecting our lakes. Assemblyman Matt Slater has consistently prioritized each of these community needs.
He helped secure property tax relief through Putnam County’s historic sales tax agreement, delivering vital revenue back to our towns. He also successfully secured inland waterway designations for Roaring Brook Lake and Lake Oscawana, opening doors for water quality funding, while actively working to include Lake Peekskill in the state's septic system replacement program to help homeowners with costly upgrades. Furthermore, Assemblyman Slater has delivered record state funding for our local schools and roads.
Another vital initiative is his annual Senior Resource Fair. Having participated in these events, I have seen firsthand how they connect our older neighbors directly with essential Medicare guidance, healthcare information, and veterans' services without forcing them to navigate complex state agencies alone.
From protecting natural resources and lowering household costs to supporting our seniors, Assemblyman Slater continues to champion the issues that matter most to Putnam Valley families.
