Dear Editor,
Was just reading Don Scott’s piece about gas line installs ("The most regressive tax you've never heard of," Feb. 5, Page 19), and I have to ask, does anyone subsidize the cost of putting in a tank for those who heat with oil or propane?
I don’t think so; it falls squarely on the homeowner. Many people don’t even have access to natural gas, so asking them to help foot the bill is a bit much.
He seems to be upset about the fracking ban in New York too, but I think we already have a glut of gas; let’s keep our groundwater clean instead.
It is too bad they closed Indian Point. Maybe you could send the natural gas there and get it running as a gas plant. All the infrastructure is there and we could sure use the additional power.
