Raymond J. Harting had a long working career in Bedford.
Raymond J. Harting (Ray) passed away peacefully on June 15, 2025 at the age of 82 with his loving wife Carolyn at his side. He was born on February 15, 1943 to George and Ellen Harting. His childhood was spent in Brooklyn, being educated in Catholic schools. During his youth, he served as an altar boy, part of his commitment as a lifelong Roman Catholic. He was a long time member of St. Partick's Church in Bedford, N.Y. before moving to Brewster, New York.
After attending college at night and upon graduating in 1965 with a degree in accounting, he went to work for Peat Marwick Mitchell as an auditor. In the early 1970s, he opened up his own firm eventually sharing an office with his wife Carolyn, an attorney, in Bedford Village.
Ray and Carol had two children. He coached the kids in a number of sports during their adolescence and was a lifelong baseball fan. His early fandom was spent rooting for the Brooklyn Dodgers until their move in 1958. Since 1962, he was a loyal follower of the New York Mets.
One of his passions was golf. For more than 20 years, he was a member of Mount Kisco Country Club. He played many courses in Westchester and Putnam counties. The later years saw him teeing it up in Florida, where he spent his winters.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served more than 6 years as a reserve after his active duty ended. Upon moving to Bedford Village, he became part of the Lion's Club.
Raymond is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carolyn, son Dennis, daughter Debbie Lindstrom (Michael) and granddaughter, Meagan Fulford. He was predeceased in death by his sister Helen (Smith) and brother George.
