Dear Editor,
Much like the prophesy of the three witches in Shakespeare’s Macbeth, political rhetoric is filled with half truths if not flat out lies. For instance, the Democrats love to tell you how much your utility bills have risen. Unfortunately, a very true statement. What they fail to mention is that New York is controlled by the Democrat party. They are the ones who placed ridiculous regulations on utility and energy firms, closed Indian Point, and refused to allow fracking, causing massive increases in our bills.
Another half-truth New York Democrats tell is that they are fighting crime by increasing spending and getting guns off the street. They never tell us that they implemented cashless bail that releases criminals back on to the streets or that they passed a law forbidding local police departments to help ICE get violent illegals off the streets.
While there are many more examples, the last example of a half truth Democrats tell us is that they are increasing funding to educate. What they don’t tell us is that most of the money goes to fund the unions who then in turn make contributions back to them. Nor do they talk about how education is being used not to teach but to indoctrinate the children. New York is doing away with the Regents diploma and replacing it with what they call a "Portrait of a Graduate" vision, which consists of what they call six attributes. I will just mention one. They want the children to be global citizens. How about teaching the children about what being a good American citizen should be?
This is why it is important for every sane person to be sure to vote. The other side consists of people who have an unending list of grievances and will certainly vote. I will be voting early and casting my ballot for Bruce Blakeman for Governor, Kevin Byrne for County Executive, Sergio J. Esposito for State Senator and Matt Slater for State Assembly. My prayer is that you also will vote early for these individuals and make sure all your friends, neighbors and relatives do likewise!
