Marie Henriette Dascy, affectionately known as Yeyette and Yetta was born in Haiti where she grew up. Yetta never married. She is the daughter of Odette Jean-Louis and Clement Dascy. She was the fourth of 7 children. She is survived by her 6 siblings: Marie Therese Denis, Monique Ducasse, Mireille Michel, Dr. Nicole Dascy, Edith Marcel and Dr Danielle Thomas. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, many grand nieces and nephews and some great grand nieces and nephews. She did primary school in Haiti at a catholic school: Institution du Sacre-Cour de Turgeau; and secondary school at Les Soeurs de St. Francois d Assise a catholic high school. She emigrated to the USA with her sister Mireille in 1966. She went to secretarial school and quickly secured a job with Blue Cross/Blue Shield where she works for a short time. In 1968, she enrolled at Farmingdale College in Long Island NY and received an associate degree. After college, she joined Peace Corps organization where she served in the Republic of Congo, Africa, for 2 years. She returned to the USA, and went to Berkeley College in Francisco, California, where she obtained a master’s degree in public health. She worked in that domain for a few years in North Carolina. She then decided to go back to college and became a Registered Nurse. In 2013, she relocated to Newburgh NY where she resided until her untimely death. Yetta was extremely private, very loyal, discreet, independent, and generous. She was a rather quiet person but would wholly participate in a conversation if the topic was interesting to her. Her faith in God was strong and unwavering. Prayer and meditation were essential parts of her life. Her spirituality defined her life and the way she lived it.
