Gratitude for Yorktown’s storm response

Dear Editor,

Following the recent snowstorm, I want to express my deepest gratitude to the dedicated employees of the Town of Yorktown. Their unwavering commitment and long hours of hard work have ensured the safety and smooth functioning of our community during these challenging times.

The Yorktown Highway Department crews were among the first to respond, braving the storm to clear roads and maintain essential access for residents and emergency services. Their efforts were instrumental in keeping our community connected and safe.

The Yorktown Police Department, along with the Yorktown Volunteer Fire Department, Yorktown Volunteer Ambulance Corp., 34 Medic, and Mohegan Ambulance Corp., remained fully operational throughout the storm. Their unwavering dedication to public safety during these difficult conditions was truly commendable.

I also want to acknowledge the invaluable contributions of the Yorktown Water Department, whose behind-the-scenes work is crucial during extreme weather events. Additionally, I extend my gratitude to the town staff who worked tirelessly to restore normalcy once the storm passed.

While storms undoubtedly present significant challenges, Yorktown’s response demonstrated a remarkable level of dedication, coordination and care for its community. I want to express my sincere appreciation to everyone who came forward and served during this time.
