Gail Ann Blas Monahon, age 72, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 14, 2024 with her children by her side. Gail was born in White Plains, N.Y. in January of 1952 to parents Norma and Olaf Blas. Gail graduated from White Plains High School, SUNY Buffalo for undergrad, and Iona College with her masters in education.
Gail was a teacher at Fulmar Road Elementary School in the Mahopac Central School district for many years. She taught third grade and is well remembered for her kind spirit, creative Halloween costumes, laughter, and her class's many musical performances. She retired from MCSD in 2016 and moved to Colorado to spend time with her family and explore the Rocky Mountains.
Gail enjoyed hiking, biking and horseback riding. She was an animal lover, and especially appreciated the majesty of dogs, horses and wolves.
Gail is survived by her children, Kelly and Bobby Monahon, and her grandchildren, Joey, Eli, and Vivi.
Kelly and Bobby will be hosting a Celebration of Life at Four Brothers in Mahopac on Saturday Nov. 16 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. In lieu of flowers and contributions, the family is asking that donations be made in Gail's name to your local ASPCA or animal rescue.
