Carmen Pura Cabrera, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on Nov. 2, 2026, in Cortlandt Manor, New York, at the age of 81. Born on Jan. 13, 1945, in Bayamón, Puerto Rico, Carmen lived a life filled with love, faith, creativity, and unwavering devotion to her family.
Carmen was a woman of warmth, strength, and grace whose kindness touched the lives of all who knew her. Guided by her Christian faith, she found comfort, hope, and purpose in her beliefs throughout her life. Her faith was reflected in her compassion, generosity, and the genuine care she showed to those around her. She had a special way of making others feel welcomed, valued, and loved.
Born and raised in Bayamón, Puerto Rico, Carmen developed a deep appreciation for family, tradition, and hard work. She attended Bayamón High School and remained proud of her Puerto Rican heritage. The values instilled in her during her early years shaped the devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished family matriarch she would become. She carried those values throughout her life, nurturing her family with resilience, patience, and unconditional love.
Carmen found happiness in life’s simple yet meaningful pleasures. She loved traveling, exploring new places, and creating beautiful memories along the way. An avid gardener, she took great pride in tending to her gardens, finding joy in the beauty she cultivated with patience and care. She also had a passion for cooking, often expressing her love through the meals she lovingly prepared for family and friends. Her home was a place of warmth, laughter, and cherished traditions, where loved ones gathered and lasting memories were made.
Above all, Carmen’s greatest joy was her family. She treasured every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, creating memories that will be held close for generations to come. Her creative spirit shone through in everything she did, from the gardens she nurtured to the thoughtful ways she made family gatherings special. Her presence brought comfort, happiness, and a sense of belonging to those fortunate enough to share in her life.
Carmen is survived by her beloved husband, Luis Cabrera; her son, Louis Cabrera; her daughters, Darleen Moran and her husband, Chris Moran, and Michelle Cabrera; her cherished grandchildren, Heather, Courtney, Isla, Tatiana, C.J., and Jaxxon; and her adored great-grandchildren, Ryder, Norah, Sage, and Audrey.
She was predeceased by her beloved son, Daniel Cabrera, and her cherished granddaughter, Cheyenne Moran, whose memories remain an enduring part of the family’s story.
Carmen leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, kindness, and devotion that will continue to live on through the generations she so deeply cherished. Though her absence leaves an immeasurable void, the memories she created, the lessons she shared, and the love she gave so freely will remain forever in the hearts of her family and friends.
Much like the beautiful gardens she lovingly tended, Carmen planted seeds of love, compassion, and strength that will continue to bloom for generations to come. Her life was a testament to the beauty of family, the strength of faith, and the lasting impact of a gentle and generous heart.
She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.
