Cameras could curb Mohegan Lake’s dangerous cutoff problem

Posted

Dear Editor,

I find myself sounding like a broken record, but at least once a week there is someone who drives up the hill here in Mohegan lake, and cuts off all the traffic. I have mentioned this issue and actually wrote a letter to this publication, but my suggestion for improvement was not taken seriously. I’m not sure what the town is waiting for; perhaps a serious crash? There must be a way to discourage drivers from cutting off those of us that wait patiently. I suggested placing a camera at the intersection which would capture the license plates of those that do this repeatedly. Then mail them a ticket. Word would get around and this would certainly be a deterrent. I worry that as more building is done here on our major roads we will see more impatience and more accidents.
