A simple act of kindness I’ll never forget

Posted

Dear Editor,

I have lived in Yorktown for over eight years, and nothing has brought me greater joy than raising my two girls in this wonderful town. Over the years, I’ve learned that Yorktown is a truly special community—one that comes together in times of celebration and in times of need. And no one embodies that spirit of community more than Sergio Esposito. He truly is the face of this town.

A few months ago, my car suddenly broke down right in front of Trailside Café—at the height of afternoon traffic. Cars were honking as I sat there, panicking and unsure of what to do. Out of nowhere, Sergio pulled up beside me and asked if I needed help. I immediately said yes, grateful for any assistance. Without hesitation, he directed traffic, jumped into my car, and helped push it along in neutral until we reached a safer location. Then, to my astonishment, he said, “Here, I’ll push your car to the mechanic—take my car and drive there.” He didn’t know me at all. He just saw someone in need and stepped in to help without a second thought.

I’ve often seen Sergio around town supporting local businesses, but that day I experienced firsthand his kindness and selflessness. His willingness to help a stranger reminded me exactly why I love this community.

Yorktown is truly fortunate to have a leader like Sergio Esposito—someone who not only leads by example but genuinely cares about the people who make this town so special.
