Slater delivers results from the minority party

Dear Editor,

After reading the recent candidate profiles in Halston Media for the 94th Assembly District, one thing became abundantly clear to me: New York needs proven leaders who know how to get things done.

As a resident, I am concerned about the direction of our state. Between skyrocketing utility bills, high taxes, rising childcare costs and deteriorating infrastructure, families are being squeezed from every direction. We need representatives who understand these challenges and, more importantly, know how to deliver solutions.

Assemblyman Matt Slater has demonstrated that ability time and again.

As Yorktown Town Supervisor, he cut town taxes for the first time in 30 years and helped attract new businesses and investment. In Albany, he has secured more than $38 million in state funding for our communities, championed free school meals and childcare affordability, and helped pass important public safety legislation.

What impresses me most is that he has accomplished all of this while serving in the Assembly's minority party. Rather than making excuses or engaging in endless partisan finger-pointing, Slater has built relationships across the aisle and found ways to get results. His effectiveness has even earned recognition from the nonpartisan Center for Effective Lawmaking.

That's the kind of leadership we desperately need more of in government.

Experience matters. Relationships matter. Results matter. At a time when New York faces enormous challenges, we cannot afford to overlook the importance of having someone who understands government and has already demonstrated an ability to make it work for us.

Matt Slater has earned another term in the State Assembly, and he has my enthusiastic support.
