NORTH SALEM, N.Y. - The Tigers kicked off their playoff campaign on Thursday, Oct. 29, entering the section tournament as the #2 seed and hosting #3 seed Leffell School.
The Lions had upended North Salem 2-1 earlier in the month, but the matchup at Tiger Stadium would tell a different story entirely.
The Tigers dominated from the opening whistle, controlling the play in the offensive zone and smothering Leffell’s every attempt to muster scoring chances.
As has become commonplace this season, the scoring opened 12 minutes into the contest with a goal from junior standout Sienna Paldin.
Up 1-0, North Salem never looked back.
Paldin would notch her second goal on a penalty kick with 10 minutes remaining and assist on a goal from fellow junior Jackie Moore to send the Tigers into the half up 3-0.
The second frame would see the Tiger playbook run to perfection, with Paldin logging the hat trick off a feed from Moore and scoring her fourth goal of the evening with 16 minutes remaining.
Adding the exclamation point to the win was a stop from senior keeper Grace Schaeffer, who officially tallied 250 career saves.
Leffell would score late in the game to avoid the shutout, but the North Salem statement had been made.
The Tigers now advance to the section championship game against #1 seed Tuckahoe on Sunday, Nov. 1, at 3 p.m. at Arlington High School.
