The scheduled Oct. 13 court appearance for James Molloy, the former NYPD officer accused of shooting and killing a 12-year-old dog near the former Turco’s, was adjourned Tuesday, according to Yorktown Justice Court.

A large community turnout was expected at Yorktown Justice Court Tuesday evening, as residents prepared to once again gather in support of Matt Steele, whose 12-year-old dog, Luke, also known as “Snoopy,” was shot and killed Aug. 5.

The assistant district attorney is expected to be present Tuesday evening, but defense counsel will not attend, court clerk Maria Ricci said. The court will set a new date for the next appearance.

Molloy faces charges of first-degree reckless endangerment, a Class D felony, and aggravated cruelty to animals, a Class E felony, in connection with Luke’s death.

At his first court appearance Aug. 11, residents gathered outside the courthouse holding signs reading “Justice for Luke,” while others filled the courtroom’s public seating to observe the proceedings.
