Katherine Mae Heckett, known lovingly as Kathy, passed away on Oct. 24, 2026, in Montrose New York, at the age of 87.
She was born on Oct. 9, 1939, in Mt Vernon, New York, and lived a life marked by faith, devotion, and quiet grace. Kathy was a Christian woman whose life reflected the values she held dear, and she will be remembered with deep love by all who knew her.
Kathy was the beloved wife of Robert, known affectionately as Bob. For over 62 years together they shared a life built on love, companionship, and steadfast devotion. She cherished her role as a wife, mother, and homemaker, and she embraced each of those callings with warmth and dedication.
She found great joy in the simple and meaningful moments of life, especially in spending time with her family and creating memories that will be treasured always.
She is survived by her husband Bob, daughters, Susan Schiavone and her husband Mario, and Laura Klenske and her husband Greg. Kathy was a proud and devoted grandmother to Kaitlyn Cobb and her husband Jason, Kelsey Schiavone and her wife Morgan, Tyler and Alex Klenske. She was also blessed with great-grandsons Carson and Brayden Cobb, who brought her much joy and happiness. Her family was one of her greatest blessings, and she loved each of them deeply and without reservation. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Louise Endres, and by many beloved nieces and nephews who will carry her memory in their hearts.
Kathy was preceded in death by her sister Joan Smith and her brother Ernest Herr. Though their earthly lives have ended, the bonds of family and the love they shared remain a lasting comfort to those left behind.
In times of sorrow, her family can take peace in knowing that she is now reunited with those who have gone before her in the presence of the Lord. In her leisure time, Kathy enjoyed reading, shopping, manicures, and spending time with her grandchildren, whom she adored. She also treasured dinner and movie dates with her beloved Bob, moments that reflected the deep affection and companionship they shared throughout their marriage.
These simple pleasures were among the joys that made her life rich and meaningful. She appreciated the beauty found in everyday blessings and lived with gratitude for the people and moments that mattered most. Kathy’s life was a testimony to faith, family, and love. Her kindness touched many lives, and her legacy will live on through the family she nurtured and the love she gave so freely. Though she has departed this earthly life, her memory remains a source of comfort and strength. The family and friends of Kathy Heckett will remember her with deep affection and gratitude for the gift of her life. May they find peace in the promise of eternal life and the hope of reunion in God’s perfect time. Her loving presence will be missed beyond measure, but her spirit will remain forever in the hearts of those who loved her.
