John M. Harkins of Somers, NY (formerly of Larchmont, NY), died on October 18, 2026.
He was born on July 23,1936, in Rochester, NY, to Joseph C. and Mary B. (Palmer) Harkins. He graduated from St. Mary’s in Katonah, NY, and went on to earn a B.A. from Boston College and an M.B.A. from NYU. John lived in Somers for 75 years and was a charter member and past president of the Somers Lions Club. He enjoyed skiing, sailing, golf and was a licensed private pilot.
The thing John loved and cherished more than anything was his family. John was the wonderful husband of Irma E. Harkins (Pellini) for 65 years and was the adored father of Cyndi Sciacca (Joe), John Jr., JC, Mary-John (the late John Lofaro), Christian (Laurie) and Mark Caico (Vanessa), whom he loved like a son. He was the devoted grandfather of Sarah, Katie (fiancé Phil Bellantoni) & Thomas Gall, Julia (fiancé Mike Esquivel-Lieb) & Kara Sciacca and Kennedy, Jack & Brogan Harkins, as well as several nieces. Throughout his life he loved his many dogs and grand dogs (Goy Goy, Charlie, Pierre, Sam, Sherlock, Nepal, Augie, Gilbert, Buddy, Jordan, Jaxon, Koda, Buster, Bella, Avery and more!), and they were always excited to see him and loved spending time with him.
John will be forever missed for his great wit and wisdom, sense of humor, positive outlook on life and for the care and compassion he displayed for the people he loved. The world isn’t quite as bright without him.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, October 22, 2026 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah, NY.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 23, 2026 at 11:30 a.m., at St. Joseph’s Church, 95 Plum Brook Road, Somers, NY.
