Posted

A 47-year-old man was seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash on the Taconic State Parkway in Yorktown Friday, New York State Police said.

At about 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 16, state police in Hawthorne observed a Ford Escape parked on the shoulder near Exit 16, with a man lying on the ground nearby.

Investigators determined that the man had exited his vehicle when he was struck by a northbound 2026 Mazda. The Mazda left the scene, police said.

The Yorktown Police Department later located a vehicle matching the description, with significant damage, near Exit 19. The driver was identified as Richard A. Yusufov, 29, of Brooklyn.

The victim was transported to Westchester Medical Center with serious injuries. His current condition was not revealed.

Yusufov was charged with leaving the scene of an incident without reporting — personal injury, a Class E felony. He was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on Nov. 12 at 9:30 a.m.

State police credited the Yorktown Police Department and the Westchester Real Time Center with assisting in the investigation.
