Incumbent town supervisor Mike Cazzari has won a third two-year term, according to unofficial results from the Putnam County Board of Elections, with a convincing victory that saw him garner 57 percent of the vote.
A Republican, Cazzari defeated Democrat challenger Jean Hopper, a longtime Mahopac resident and community volunteer, by a margin of 3,967 to 2,634. There were 344 write-in votes.
Former chief of the Carmel Police Department, Cazzari said that after a career in public safety, he understands the need for leaders who make tough choices on fiscal responsibility, infrastructure and protecting the middle class.
“I ran for office to provide proactive leadership and ensure Carmel remains a community where families, seniors and working-class residents can thrive, not be priced out,” he said.
