SOMERS, N.Y. - Classic cars, community spirit, and strong local support made the first-ever “Cruisin’ Into Spring” Car Show & Vendor Fair at Somers Middle School a resounding success.

Organized by the Somers Middle School PTA, the April 14 event drew more than 100 cars, 30 vendors, and hundreds of attendees who gathered to enjoy a day of polished chrome, live music, food, and family-friendly activities.

Proceeds from the inaugural event will go directly toward enrichment opportunities and special programs benefiting students and teachers at the school.

PTA organizers Nora Ivezaj and Natalia Jones expressed their appreciation to the many contributors who helped bring the event to life, including volunteers, donors, sponsors, vendors, and community members.

“Our first annual car show was truly a community effort,” organizers said in a statement. “We are incredibly grateful for the support that made this such a memorable day.”

Car enthusiasts competed across several categories, with standout vehicles earning top honors. The Best Paint award went to a 1987 Monte Carlo, while Best Engine was awarded to a 1932 Ford Coupe. The Best Hot Rod honor went to a 1970 Chevy Nova SS, and Best Original was awarded to a 1958 Chevy Impala. A 1963 Ford Falcon Futura earned the Kids’ Choice award, while a Chevrolet Corvette took home the People’s Choice honor. The prestigious Best in Show award was presented to a 1969 Dodge Charger.

Beyond the cars, the event featured a lively vendor fair, a variety of food trucks, and entertainment throughout the day. The band Three Limes and a Coconut provided music and announcements, while an inflatable gaga pit - courtesy of Summer Trails Day Camp - was a popular attraction for younger attendees.

Organizers highlighted the efforts of numerous volunteers, including members of the Leo’s Club, who assisted with setup, cleanup, and event operations. Special recognition was also given to longtime Somers resident and car enthusiast Ken DeMarco for his contributions.

The PTA also extended its gratitude to a wide range of donors and sponsors whose support helped make the event possible. These included E&L Automotive of Ossining, Evolution Detailing Studio of Yonkers, Jill’s Bar & Restaurant of Mamaroneck, Russell Speeder’s Car Wash of Bedford, and AIA Imprint Group of Somers, all of whom provided prizes for car show winners.

Additional thanks went to MVP Junk Removal of Somers for assisting with cleanup, UPS of Somers for donating printed materials, and Lorese Salon for contributing items for the children’s craft area.

Food truck vendors Sapporo DiNapoli, 3 Little Pigs BBQ, and King Kone helped keep attendees fueled throughout the day, while vendors added to a vibrant shopping experience.

Organizers also acknowledged the role of local organizations in promoting the fundraiser, including The Somers Record and the Town of Somers, whose support helped drive strong attendance.

With an enthusiastic turnout and widespread community backing, organizers are already looking ahead to the future.

“Thank you to everyone who supported, participated in, and attended our event,” organizers said. “We look forward to building on this success and welcoming everyone back in 2027.”
