Somers Women’s Club Annual Autumn Sale
The Somers Women’s Club Annual Autumn Sale will be held on Sunday, Sept. 27, at Reis Park from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. All proceeds benefit local organizations and charities.
Handcrafted items and new and used housewares, jewelry, books, and toys are among the offerings available for purchase at the huge Autumn Sale. The Bake Table features a variety of homemade goodies, from cookies and brownies to cakes and pies.
Somers Women’s Club members, wearing their signature yellow shirts, will be selling raffle tickets throughout the community and during the day of the Autumn Sale. The extensive list of raffle prizes includes a round of golf and restaurant dine-arounds, as well as cash prizes.
Adult Mental Health First Aid
Presented by Somers Partners in Prevention, to be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3 in the Somers Town House Meeting Room at 335 Route 202. Mental Health First Aid trains adults to identify mental health signs and symptoms and gives the skills and resources to provide initial support, and connect individuals with professional help. This training is free to participants. Registration is required by contacting laurenleilajohnson@gmail.com
A Message from The Friends of the Somers Library
The Friends of the Somers Library have an exciting lineup of events coming up this fall!
We will be at Celebrate Somers on Saturday, Sept. 26, where we will have raffle baskets, totes and other fun accessories for sale! We’re also gearing up for our Annual Book Sale, our biggest fundraiser of the year. Books, games, puzzles and DVD donations are currently being accepted and the sale will be held Nov. 13–15. Start setting aside your gently used donations now! The Friends will also be hosting a Tellebration: an International Storytelling Festival at Somers Library, at 10 a.m. on Nov. 21.

Somers Veterans Trip
Somers veterans will embark on an exclusive journey to the Navel Submarine Base in New London, CT, on Thursday, Oct. 15. To participate in the trip, please reach out to Somers Town Hall at 914-277-3637 for registration. A nonrefundable deposit of $25 is required. Checks can be made out to the Town of Somers, submitted to the Supervisor's office before the event. The last day for submitting your request to attend is Oct. 7. The bus is limited to fifty seats. Due to military restrictions you must have a drivers license or a passport to enter the facility. All individuals will be vetted.
On the day of the excursion, participants should leave their cars in the upper parking lot of Reis Park. Regardless of the weather conditions the bus will depart promptly at 0700 hours. Arrive early.
