Somers Lions Club Looks to Help Those Impacted by Recent Storms

SOMERS, N.Y. - Our hearts and minds are riveted by the devastation we see in North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida and we want to help. Lions Club International (LCIF), has a unique network that is able to get donations directly to local clubs on the ground in the impact zones.

If you check through Charity Navigator, you will see that about 96% of donated funds go directly to the local people in need when donations are done through LCIF.

The Somers Lions would like to be the conduit for getting needed funds and supplies to the impacted areas struck by the latest hurricanes so that 100% of raised funds go directly to those who need it the most. We are also planning a significant material donation of our own, where we will ascertain the needs of the community and do all we can to help replenish some of what has been destroyed.

With very short news cycles and a pending Presidential Election, these issues will disappear from news headlines very quickly, yet the misery and despair of those impacted the most will continue for years. As we have seen with other natural disasters, it is extremely difficult to rebuild after the storms. We plan to help for the long haul, and we are imploring you to join us in our mission to help. We are asking that you give ‘til it feels good. Please know that every donation, no matter the size, helps and is an inspiration for others to do the same.

The Somers Lions Club did this in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, where needed food and supplies were given to displaced families. Unfortunately, we need to do this again due to these current disasters. The needs of those affected will exceed our current budget for helping the most neediest among us, so we are asking for your help in service. You can donate through our website, www.somerslionsclub.org or by using the attached QR codes. We GUARANTEE 100% of donated funds will be delivered to our counterparts in Lions clubs in the disaster zones. We are certain that these other Lion clubs are doing what they can to rebuild themselves as they carry out our joint mission to serve. Let’s help them in their efforts.

Please donate today. We appreciate your consideration and generosity.
