NORTH SALEM, N.Y. - The Tigers had plenty to celebrate on Tuesday, Oct. 13, as they hosted the League Championships on their home course, capturing the boys team title and earning six All-League honors.
Despite wet and muddy conditions following heavy rains, North Salem turned in a strong performance, highlighted by Drew Karam's first-place finish in the boys race.
Karam earned individual league champion and All-League honors while leading the Tigers to the team championship.
North Salem's depth proved instrumental in securing the title, with four Tigers finishing among the top 10. Skyler Smith placed seventh, followed closely by Miles Ulrich in eighth and Nick Petronzi in ninth. All three earned All-League recognition.
The Tigers also received contributions from Jonathan Alves, who finished 22nd, and Braden Kennedy, who placed 26th. Andrew Barnett took 31st, followed by Chase Conterelli (33rd), Paul Connelly (34th), Andrew Petronzi (36th), Mateo Mergeche (41st) and Rocky Guy (44th).
On the girls side, North Salem's two runners also delivered All-League performances. Freyja Smith finished ninth, while Shannon Moravick placed 10th, giving the Tigers two more top-10 finishes.
The championship meet also served as Senior Night for the Tigers, who recognized Freyja Smith, Jonathan Alves, Skyler Smith and David Margolin.
With a league title secured, North Salem will now turn its attention to the Section 1 Coaches Invitational, scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 17, at Bowdoin Park.
