North Salem volleyball tops Tuckahoe for sixth straight win

NORTH SALEM, N.Y. - As they enter the second half of the season, North Salem volleyball is rolling.

After being swept in a rematch of last year’s section final against Tuckahoe, the Tigers have caught fire and amassed a win streak as the calendar flipped to October.

North Salem 3, Croton-Harmon 0

Monday, Sept. 28

Following back to back 3-set wins over Hamilton and Haldane, the squad hit the road to square off with Croton Harmon.

Another day, another sweep.

The Tigers notched another win, 25-19, 25-21, 25-21, behind standout performances from Sadie Matt (23 assists, 3 kills, 17 digs) Ally Maza (12 kills, 12 digs, 3 assists) Bella Jones (6 kills, 3 aces, 1 block), and Sophia Miller (14 digs, 3 assists, 2 aces).

North Salem 3, Keio 0

Tuesday, Sept. 29

Back at home, the Tigers kept the momentum rolling with a 25-19, 25-13, 25-15 victory. Matt (22 assists, 8 digs, 3 aces) Maza (14 kills, 9 digs, 1 block), Miller (12 digs), Matilda Kornbluth (4 kills, 2 assists) and Scarlett Tornambe (6 digs) all played strong in the effort.

Thursday, Oct. 1

The squad was on the road to kick off the month, notching a dominant 23-25, 25-22, 25-21, 25-16 win. Matt (34 assists, 10 digs, 6 kills, 3 aces) and Maza (21 kills, 17 digs, 3 aces, 2 assists) led the way, with Grace Barbarossa (5 kills), Bella Jones (5 kills), and Mikaela Monnelly (10 digs, 2 assists, 2 aces) all chipping in.

Monday, Oct. 5

North Salem hosted a rematch with their rival Tigers for the Dig Pink game, which helped to raise funds for The Sideout Foundation for breast cancer research.

The Tigers struck first, 25-23 and 25-18 before Tuckahoe battled back to take the next two and force a climactic fifth set showdown. North Salem wouldn’t be denied, notching the biggest win of the season and sending the raucous crowd home happy.

Milestones

While the team racked up wins, several played also hit impressive personal milestones. Sadie Matt recorded her 1000th career assist and 500th dig, Sophia Miller passed the 500 dig mark, and Ally Maza surpassed 500 kills for her North Salem career.
