Veronica “Ronnie” Hasselmann, a resident of Patterson for 59 years passed away at the age of 82. Born on July 5, 1942, in Brooklyn, NY to Jerome and Veronica (Walsh) O’Donnell she was the first of three sisters. Ronnie grew up in Brooklyn where she met and married her husband, Paul Hasselmann on April 18th, 1964. They moved to Putnam County where Ronnie was a stay-at-home mom raising two children. Eventually she took a part time position as a library aide at Brewster High School where she enjoyed working with the students and making new friends.

Throughout the years Ronnie had many interests and hobbies ranging from sewing, baking, painting, decorating her home, gardening and playing golf. She enjoyed feeding and admiring the birds at her backyard feeder and taking care of the rose bushes in her garden. She was an avid reader, often staying up until all hours of the night to finish a book or complete the occasional crossword puzzle!

She loved to travel and spent many vacations traveling abroad and locally with her closest group of friends. She also spent many vacations with her grandchildren which always included lots of skee-ball or mini-golf! She loved spending time with her grandchildren. Since the birth of her first grandchild to her last she attended as many of their events as possible and would travel near and far to cheer them on for their various sports, weddings and graduations which ranged from local high school to Navy, college and Police Academy graduations. She was always proud of her grandchildren.
